Dr. Kar Ray is a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist who practices privately at Brisbane North Medical Specialists.

 

In the public sector, he serves as the Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. Prior to this, Dr. Kar Ray worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Cambridge, UK, and held the role of Clinical Director of the Adult Directorate at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust for a decade. He received his training in Oxford, where he completed both his basic and specialist qualifications. He is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in London, UK, and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).

 

Dr. Kar Ray has a specific clinical interest in the diagnosis and management of ADHD. He has authored several books on the subject and runs specially designed ADHD pathways from the Specialist Centre, which offer a combination of life coaching for managing ADHD alongside medical treatment. His other areas of interest include mood and anxiety disorders, and he has conducted extensive research in suicide prevention. He has also led international educational programs in this field and is the recipient of a UK national award for enhancing patient experience and reducing coercion in mental health care.

Dr. Ali Zad is a highly experienced Gastroenterologist, specializing in a wide range of gastroenterological conditions. He earned his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2018 and is accredited by the Gastroenterology Society of Australia (GESA) for performing gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures. He currently serves as a consultant Gastroenterologist at Caboolture Hospital.

 

Dr. Zad provides expert care for conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Motility Disorders, Liver Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Coeliac Disease, and Bowel Cancer Screening. He has a particular interest in managing Motility Disorders and Inflammatory Bowel Disease and is highly skilled in performing endoscopic procedures, including endoscopy, colonoscopy, and intra-gastric balloon placement for temporary weight loss. He also specializes in 24-hour manometry, a diagnostic test used to assess reflux.

 

Passionate about advancing medical research, Dr. Zad’s work has been published in numerous scientific journals. He is also dedicated to educating the next generation of doctors, actively teaching medical students and junior trainees.

 

Dr. Zad's approach prioritizes individualized care, with a strong focus on providing advanced, tertiary-level care for all his patients.

Dr. Stephen Tomlinson is a highly skilled cardiologist with advanced training in echocardiography, consulting at Brisbane North Medical Specialists. He graduated from Bond University in 2011, receiving the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence, and earned his Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians in Adult Cardiology in 2019 following appointments at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital.

 

Dr. Tomlinson completed a two-year fellowship in echocardiography at The Prince Charles Hospital before pursuing further subspecialty training in valvular and structural heart disease at the prestigious Columbia Structural Heart and Valve Centre at New York - Presbyterian Hospital.

 

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Tomlinson holds a master’s degree in medical research, where he developed innovative techniques for the non-invasive assessment of heart failure. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent speaker at both local and international cardiology conferences.

 

Dedicated to providing the highest level of care, Dr. Tomlinson is an expert in the non-invasive evaluation of chest pain, breathlessness, heart failure, arrhythmia, a valvular disease. He offers a full range of cardiology services, including echocardiograms and stress echocardiograms, at Brisbane North Medical Specialists.

Dr. Nick Rukin is an experienced Urological Surgeon serving the North Brisbane and Moreton Bay areas. He graduated from the University of Birmingham in the UK and completed his Doctorate of Medicine, focusing on genetic and environmental factors in prostate cancer development.

 

He was awarded the Gold Medal for Excellence in the Intercollegiate Urological Fellowship Examination at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2013, Dr. Rukin completed an Endourology Fellowship at Fremantle Hospital, specializing in kidney stone management and prevention. His extensive research has been widely published, and he established a national training course for kidney stone surgery.

 

Dr. Rukin currently serves as the Director of Urology at Redcliffe Hospital, Metro North, and also works at the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) Hospital at the Herston campus.

 

His areas of interest include:

· Kidney and bladder stone treatment

· Kidney, prostate, bladder, and testicular cancer management

· Prostate cancer diagnostics
